Meet the Neighbours: Natural Greens bringing environmentally friendly veg to MK

Posted By: / April 6, 2020

Another Bucks Biz company who has had to change their business model in order to survive these challenging times is Fresh Greens. We spoke to founder Sam Pitman who has a unit in Building B at Denbigh Business Park.

What is Fresh Greens?

We supply restaurants with environmentally friendly, healthy and fresh micro-greens and we can do this all year round. Our range includes rocket, radish and cress. Our veggies have no pesticides, herbicides or harmful chemicals. We can deliver locally to Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

How have you had to adapt your business?

Our plan for this year was to expand our range to grow lettuce as well, especially so that we could cater for the increase in demand as a result of the Coronavirus. However, the brilliant work that the Bucks Biz team were doing to help get our new unit ready has had to stop unfortunately, in order to keep everybody safe.  We were so close, but without any flooring, we just cannot move in. Fingers crossed, once the lockdown has been lifted, we can get a team in safely and our project can be finished off. We think we’ll be really busy so it’s a good time for us to grow.

Have you got a plan B?

Yes! We are making some modifications to our current unit at Denbigh, so we will be able to create superfood microgreen boxes for local people instead. We have already had good interest and we will be getting these ready to sell in the next few days.

What’s the benefit of superfood microgreens?

A lot of people are struggling to get their fresh supplies at the moment and there is a lack of supply in the supermarkets. We can deliver these to local people in the Milton Keynes area.

Many people are taking this time to focus on their health, so they’ll be eating more salads as their healthy eating regime takes hold.  And we can help you buy supplying microgreens – and delivering this to your door!
