One of the biggest changes to come out of lockdown is how we work. With hybrid working here to stay, it’s no surprise that some businesses are wondering whether their large office space is worth keeping. However, is remote working really such a good thing? We take you through some reasons (which you may have not thought of!) why working in a commercial property is definitely not a thing of the past.

Coming into the office provides a change of scenery for employees, with social connection alone being a big enough reason for people wanting to commute. Microsoft conducted a study on hybrid working, and found that 84% of employees are motivated by the promise of socialising with colleagues. Additionally, 73% of workers suggested that they’d be more inclined to go to the office more frequently if they knew their direct team members were there. It’s also important to mention that having face-to-face contact in the office space resolves issues and queries a lot quicker. Having to call or arrange zoom meetings for something that can be fixed there and then can be a lot of faff, especially when it can be avoided by having everyone present in the office.

While 97% of the UK population has Wi-Fi in their homes, the same can’t be said for homeowners having a dedicated working space, such as a study. A lot of employees have been forced to work from their kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms. Working in the same surroundings for 5 days a week can become disheartening for some, which affects their overall productivity. Even small things such as lighting, temperature, colours and noise can have a drastic effect on your employees mood and general health. Having a large office space allows employees to move around and enjoy their environment.
