Did you know that today is National Bad Poetry Day?

We all need a little cheering up from time to time at the moment, and what better way than with a fun look at some bad poems? (alright, we can think of lots of arguably better ways, but let's go with this, just for a bit, ok?) We thought we'd have a little look around the good old internet for some bad business poetry.  Have you got any more you can add?

Books with flying letters on vintage old background

Jon Lamphier from CopyHackers was inspired by Shakespeare to write this poem about his copywriting business:

Shall I convert thee with a copy line?

Thou hast received my email drip campaign.

Pain points to prime this target now combine,

With problem, agitation as refrain.

Your words I’ve mined to speak your native tongue,

And mapped a path emotions follow fast,

A trusted voice hits home with arrows slung,

Pushed through the page and down unto the last,

And now the offer comes to solve it all,

Like fate you feel you’ve found the perfect match,

Your clicking finger words to action call,

Now you desire to write with prose to catch -

But where to slake your new conversion thirst?

Someone that definitely knows what he is doing in business is Sir Richard Branson.  As part of his #ChallengeRichard series on his Virgin.com website, Sir Richard composed this:

A poem for all entrepreneurs

The road to success is paved with tests,
So you’ve got to believe in yourself above the rest.

Dream big, and let your passion shine,
If you don’t, you won’t end up with a dime.

Challenge the status quo, disrupt the market and say YES!
And remember that innovation is an endless quest.

Don’t forget to change business for good,
If you want to change the world then you should.

If you think with your head and listen to your heart,
I promise you’ll get off to a flying start.

Make bold moves, but always play fair,
Always say please and thank you – it’s cool to care.

Do what you love and love what you do,
This advice is nothing new.

Now, stop worrying about whether your business will be a hit,
Rise to the challenge and say ‘screw it, let’s do it!’

What do you think? Who wrote the best poem?  Or, do you prefer something shorter?  You can't beat good old Dr Seuss for a short poetic boost of inspiration.  Since we're a blog aimed at small to medium sized businesses, how about this one:

“You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own and you know what you know, and you are the one who’ll decide where to go.” Dr Seuss

What's your favourite business-related poem? Do you have an alternative source of creative inspiration?  Have you written your own poem?  We'd love you to share!
